The Main library now has two AWE Early Literacy Stations, provided by mini-grants from the South Carolina State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This newest addition to our renovated Children's Area is for ages 2-10 years. These easy-to-use stations contain 46 software programs at toddler, preschool, kindergarten and elementary levels. Children can interact with their favorite reading, math, music or science programs and learn while having fun! Among the choices are Reader Rabbit Learn to Read, Kidspiration, Just Grandma and Me, Stellaluna, Sammy's Science House, Krazy ArtRoom and Thinkin' Things.
Children ages 2-10 are invited to bring their parents or caregivers to the Children's Area at the Main library to learn more about these educational computers.

Also visit us at LibraryThing where you can catalog personal collections, keep reading lists, post book reviews, and chat to other users who have the same books. There is a drop-down menu where you can look for adult "my library", teen or children's books, and some special collections (in progress!). Click on a collection on the main page to browse what we've gotten lately! By becoming a member (easy and free), you can add books to your collection and keep track of what you've read. It could save you a lot of time when you're trying to keep up with what you've checked out! Or you can catalog your own personal books and have a searchable library right at hand. All of this is free for browsing.
